Mechanical Engineer for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
Department Description and Location
For our Engineering Location Timisoara we search for dynamic and motivated people to join our Chassis and Safety department.
Our Chassis & Safety Division drives innovations in the areas of active and passive driving safety, safety and chassis sensors, and chassis components. With a workforce of over 28,000 and a turnover of 5 billion euro (2006), we are already developing tomorrow’s electronic and hydraulic braking and stability control systems, sensors, driver assistance, airbag and passenger classification systems and electronic air suspension systems.
Our components for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems provide drivers with active support by significantly enhancing comfort, identifying potentially hazardous situations in advance, and helping to avoid them.
We are developing innovative products like Lane Departure Warning based on image processing technologies. Lane Departure Warning protects drivers from unintentional lane changes, contributing to enhanced comfort.
Furthermore we are working on Blind Spot Detection a radar based system which provides information on whether there are any vehicles in the side mirror area non-visible for the driver.

Job Description
As a member of our Mechanical Design team you will be involved in the development process of different mechanical components which are part of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems such as: electronic control units, video cameras for Lane Departure Warning systems, radar and Lidar sensors.
As mechanical designer your main tasks will be:
- design, CAD modeling and drawing creation for automotive components ( mainly diecast, plastic and sheetmetal parts ) using Catia V5.
- manage complete mechanical projects or work packages including communication with customers and suppliers
- perform tolerance calculation and FMEA studies
- perform packaging studies and integration of ADAS products in demo cars for potential customers or exhibitions
Moreover, you will track the results of the FEA simulation and you will keep the contact with simulation and hardware engineers and project managers till final development of the product.
A mentor will support you to stepwise take over own responsibility after an initial training phase which will familiarize you with our products, tools, processes and organization.
Job Requirements Description
- Knowledge of Catia V4/V5 or other similar CAD tools.
- Knowledge of tolerance calculation and drawing standards
- Knowledge of design and manufacturing of mechanical parts ( diecast, sheetmetal and plastic parts ).
- Knowledge of tooling for diecast, sheetmetal and plastic injection processes .
- English knowledge - good level .
